Dehaka Comes Out Of Stealth! - First Hero Details

After a series of enigmatic (though not TOO enigmatic) teaser images regarding the Nexus' next hero, an article from the website for a Reno, Nevada newspaper (Wait...what?) has revealed the hero to be Dehaka, the Primal Zerg, and detailed his playstyle and abilities.

Looking to be a sneaky ambusher/bruiser Warrior, Dehaka has some very interesting mechanics and abilities. We're excited to see his talent tree!

Lacking a traditional mount, Dehaka has the ability to teleport/burrow to any "obscured" spot on the map (as in bushes or steam vents). This ability gives him greater move range than Falstad's Fly, but comes with a hefty 40 second cooldown, so his overall map mobility will be limited, and the mount will need to be used wisely.

The primal zerg can collect 10 essence per hero takedown as well as two per enemy minion killed near him, storing up to a maximum of 50 essence. Activate to consume all stored essence and regenerate Health over the next 5 seconds for each stack consumed. The ability also can be cast during Drag and Burrow.

Drag lashes out with Dehaka's tongue, dealing light damage to the first enemy hit, and dragging them with him for 1.75 seconds. It will be interesting to see if they distance between Dehaka and his target remains the same during the drag, depending on what range you hit from. This kind of ability can be incredibly powerful, as seen in the Batrider from DOTA 2.

For three seconds, Dark Swarm lets you gain the ability to move through units and deal damage in an area around yourself. It also deals double damage to Heroes and can be cast during Drag and Burrow. This sounds like a way for you to set up the tanky Warrior for body blocks without the hassle of having to actually get around your opponent!

This ability lets you burrow into the ground, entering Stasis and becoming Invulnerable for two seconds. Not only will this have the obvious defensive effect of saving your life in dire situations, but will also allow Dehaka to punish players who chase and overextend with extreme prejudice.

Dehaka launches abiomass attack that deals damage, silences, and slows the first enemy hero it hits by 30 percent for three seconds. The interesting part of this Heroic comes with the fact that the affected enemy loses sight of allied heroes and has greatly reduced vision for the next 6 seconds. Sounds scary, to be alone in the Nexus. Especially if your name is Morales and you are blind to all of your teammates for 6 entire seconds!

After a five-second delay, Adaptation causes 60 percent of all damage taken at the time to be returned to Dehaka as health. This Heroic, combined with his passive, Essence Collection, can make Dehaka a unique kind of warrior: One based on massive regeneration and battlefield manipulation, rather than through armor or a massive health pool.

It looks Like Blizzard continues to deliver fresh, fun, and unique Hero styles to the Nexus! We can't wait to learn more.
